I had the same problem on my 95 Savage. Turns out that I was over filling the tank. (See my question and the response in an earlier listing)
I got in the habit of starting the bike and rocking it from side to side. I did this to be sure that the problem would not show up while riding down the road. The idea of gas on a hot engine wasn't very appealing!!
